What Happens in Vegas . . .

. . . gets shared on my blog, on Kristina's, and on Shauna's.  For whatever reason, I didn't really take any pictures, so these are all lifted from my dear sisters-in-law (thanks guys!).

I just got back from an incredibly fun girls getaway weekend with my Mother-in-law and sisters-in-law.  Shauna graciously drove her very comfortable new accord the whole way and did a marvelous job of navigating us all around Vegas.  She picked Shari and I up and we left all the cares of provo behind.

We arrived at our hotel, the sumptuous Desert Paradise Resort.  We had a 2 bedroom condo which was really lovely and well situated--convenient without being in a gross or noisy area.

That first night we made rented a movie, stocked the fridge, and then went to pick Kristina up from the airport before grabbing a pizza settling in for a fun girls night in.  How lucky we are to have such fun together despite all of the stories you hear about in-laws hating each other. Friday morning we started a wonderful day of indulgence -- manicure/pedicure, shopping, and wandering around the big hotels on the strip

We had a delightful lunch at the Rainforest Cafe in the MGM Grand.  It is a really cool place where the animals decorating the restaurant become animated and move around and make noises every so often.  My kids would have loved it.

Of course, we had to save room for the Volcano dessert

The highlight of the day was going to see the Cirque du Soliel LOVE! about the Beatles

Shauna even got a photo inside the theater -- the ushers were so fast in coming over to say that no photography was allowed.

The strange thing about Vegas is that when you're walking around at 11am, it is really deserted.  But at 11pm, it is absolutely packed with people.  We also noticed that all of the ladies were dressed up like their lives depended on it and most of the guys were in scruffy baggy jeans and ratty tshirts.  Makes you wonder, doesn't it.  After the show we went outside to see the Mirage's volcano erupt and then wandered down to see the choreographed fountains in front of the Bellaggio.

I think if there'd been a place to sit, we could have stayed for hours watching the fountains.  It was probably just as well that we headed home instead to relax in the hot tub (where we incidentally met a bunch of ladies just getting ready to start their evening).

Shari took one for the team and slept on the pull-out sofa, she needed another blanket which was delivered by the security guard -- we called it her security blanket.

The next day, after a leisurely breakfast for most of us and a limousine ride for Shari

we hit up some of the shops on the strip,

including the fabulous M&M store.

Yes, this is a sign made entirely of M&Ms.

We wandered around the Venetian and then went to the World Carnival Buffet at the Rio where we ate way too much.  We discovered that with a breakfast at the hotel and a big lunch, we were still too stuffed at dinner time for anything more than a little dessert.  Kristina had to fly back to California that night, so we saw her off and the rest of us headed to see

The Las Vegas version is only an hour and a half, but it was very well staged and like visiting an old friend to hear all of the songs that I knew so well as a girl.  Shauna sneaked a picture in this theater too.

We had a nice visit to the hot tub and came back to the condo to watch "Cake Boss" and eat carmel popcorn.

Sunday, we went to the breakfast buffet at the Orelans before embarking on the long drive home.  Allen and the girls had a great time together while I was gone.  This was such a fun trip, I hope we make a tradition of it!
