Another Winner

So, part of the piano story is that on the way home from the airport having just bought our fabulous piano, Allen's trusty old Honda started making some very bad noises.  We took it into our mechanic who told us that the transmission was totally shot.  It has been a great car.  20 years old.  Nearly 200,000 miles.  Never a big repair.  Always reliable.  There for many milestones of our lives.  Allen bought it after his mission and drove it out from California with his dad in 1996.  It is the car he drove on our first date.  Because of a series of mishaps, he actually proposed to me while I was sitting on its hood.  It is the car we drove on our honeymoon and across the country to our new adventure in Boston.  Many of those miles on the odometer count double for the severe strain of Boston driving.  It is the car we drove home from the hospital when the first three of our daughters were born.  It has been with us longer than any of them.  A real part of the family.

We thought that perhaps we could be a one-car family and that Allen could ride his bike to and from work.  But, as you may recall, his bike was stolen from our garage a while ago and never replaced because of his hand surgery and so forth.  And we realized this past week as he's been bumming rides from all of our neighbors, Utah is not an easy place to be a one car family.  There are only a few times when we both need cars in different places at the same time, but those times do exist and it's just not practical to expect our neighbors to pick up the slack over the long term.

So, we embarked on another great shopping quest which resulted in our purchase today of another Honda Acoord.  May it serve us as well as its predecessor!
