The first weekend in November we had a lovely Smithfam reunion in San Diego for Bethany's wedding. Most of us came without spouses or children. Even Julie was miraculously able to make it . Even though it was kind of a pain to make it there and work out the ditching of our kids, we were all so glad to have come.
Bethy found some absolutely charming cottages near the beach in La Jolla. We loved them!

La Jolla is such a fun town. We got a recommendation for some great Mexican food for dinner and enjoyed walking through town to get there.
I loved the chance to hold Mr Peter and the freedom of giving him back to his parents when it was time to eat.
Saturday we all got dressed in our almost matching dresses. Miraculously, I'd thrown in a couple of extra things into my suitcase at the last minute which enabled me to lend something to almost every one of the sisters so that we'd all be outfitted for the occasion. I lent a slip to Jen, a necklace to Candice, some garments to Erika, a camisole, slip & jewelry to Julie. Julie wore the dress I'd brought for myself, I wore an extra dress Kim had brought and so did Anna. It is so fun to have sisters!
The sealing ceremony in the San Diego Temple was beautiful and gave us all lots to think about as the sealer talked about what it means to make covenants and the way that ordinances are connected.
Our dear friend from Hawaii, Adam Palmer, flew out to take the pictures. In typical Palmer fashion, he was totally easy-going and willing to sleep on the floor and just hang out with the family. He took such great photos at the wedding and it was really fun to see him too!
After the photos, we headed to the delightful restaurant Bethy'd found for the luncheon.
After the Bride & Groom took off, we had another lovely walk along the beach and then went back to the cabins for talk and s'mores around the fire pit with Ben's family. It was fun to hear stories about his life and get to know them better.
Sunday morning it was back home. Quick trip, but so much fun. Congratulations Ben & Bethy!
